Yobe Govt Signs 20-Year Concession Agreement for Potiskum Trailer Park

The Yobe State Government has signed a 20-year concession agreement with Truck Transit Parks Limited (TTP) for the operation and management of the Potiskum Trailer Park, a move aimed at strengthening the state's transport and logistics infrastructure through a public-private partnership.

The agreement was signed on Friday by the Yobe State Agency for Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion (YAPPPIP) and Truck Transit Parks Limited.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Director-General of YAPPPIP, Dr. Aliyu Isah Chikaji, described the project as a major step toward improving logistics and boosting economic development in the state.

He said the Potiskum Trailer Park is a strategic infrastructure that will enhance the movement of goods, improve road safety, reduce indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty trucks, facilitate trade, and stimulate economic activities in Potiskum and neighbouring communities.

Dr. Chikaji noted that the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni has continued to create an enabling environment that encourages private sector investment in the development and management of critical public infrastructure.

According to him, Potiskum, being one of the largest commercial centres in Northern Nigeria, deserves a modern trailer transit facility that meets international standards and supports efficient transportation services.

He added that the concession arrangement would attract private investment, ensure professional management of the facility, improve operational efficiency, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the state's economic growth.

The Chief Operations Officer of Truck Transit Parks Limited, Mr. Obinna Nwaogu, expressed appreciation to the Yobe State Government for the opportunity, describing the Potiskum Trailer Park as one of the best transit facilities the company has seen across the country.

He assured that the company would deploy modern technology and best management practices to maximize investment, improve service delivery, and ensure the project's long-term sustainability and profitability.

Nwaogu also pledged the company's commitment to building a successful partnership with the Yobe State Government for the mutual benefit of both parties.

Also speaking, the Yobe State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Tourism and Solid Minerals, Hon. Kaigama Umar, commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his foresight in establishing the trailer park.

He urged the concessionaire to strictly comply with the terms and conditions of the concession agreement, stressing the importance of transparency and adherence to contractual obligations to avoid future disputes.

The signing ceremony was attended by representatives of the Yobe State Ministry of Justice, YAPPPIP, Yobe Investment Company Limited, legal advisers, and officials of Truck Transit Parks Limited.
