The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Tourism & Solid Minerals, Yobe State, was established in February 1996 following its creation from the former Ministry of Finance. Its establishment was driven by the need to harness the state's abundant commercial, industrial, tourism, and mineral potentials for economic growth and improved living standards of the people.
Since inception, the Ministry has served as the coordinating organ for promoting trade, regulating industries, developing the tourism sector, and managing solid mineral resources. Over the years, it has overseen strategic investments and supported the creation of state-owned enterprises and parastatals, aimed at stimulating local production, employment, and internally generated revenue.
Mandate and Objectives:
- Exploit and harness industrial, commercial, trade, tourism, and mineral potentials of Yobe State.
- Promote entrepreneurship and small/medium-scale industries across the 17 LGAs.
- Facilitate local and foreign investments.
- Diversify the state's economy away from over-dependence on federal allocations.
- Enhance internally generated revenue (IGR) through commerce and tourism development.
- Promote sustainable use of Yobe's rich mineral deposits to support industrialization.
